Pearson MyEnglishLab offers an online English learning experience to support the courses and books they offer. The tool is used by millions of people globally to help them learn English. It includes a wide range of online learning resources including access to instructor-led training.
Simon Kneafsey (TheScrumMaster.co.uk) was engaged by Pearson in 2012 to help them with the redevelopment of the MyEnglishLab product. An agile approach was needed to maximise value delivery and Simon was tasked with helping those involved to learn and adopt Scrum.
Simon worked with the leadership team in London and a third party supplier in Poland. Simon trained everyone in the user of Scrum and then supported them in their early Sprints and helped them find their own way to use the Scrum framework.
The redeveloped product launched on time and exceeded expectations. The supplier was a big part of the success and to such an extent the Pearson went on to purchase the company. Simon went on to work with other parts of Pearson including Penguin and Dorling Kindersley.
