# How does the Scrum Team define the Sprint Goal?

The entire [Scrum Team](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-team/) collaborates to define a [Sprint Goal](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-goal/) that communicates why the Sprint is valuable. This goal is essential for guiding the team’s efforts and ensuring that the work undertaken aligns with broader [Project](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/project/) objectives.

The [Sprint Goal](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-goal/) acts as a focal point for the team, helping them stay on track and prioritise their work. It provides a clear rationale for the Sprint and helps in decision-making throughout the Sprint.
