# How does the Sprint Review impact the Product Backlog?

As a result of the [Sprint Review](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-review/), the [Product Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/a-scrum-artifact-that-consists-of-an-ordered-list-of-the-work-to-be-done-in-order-to-create-maintain-and-sustain-a-product-managed-by-the-product-owner/) may be adapted to reflect new insights and understanding. This adaptation ensures that the backlog remains relevant and aligned with the current state of the product and its environment. Detailed changes to the backlog are often made after the review to allow sufficient time for thoughtful updates.

If significant adaptations are made to the [Product Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/a-scrum-artifact-that-consists-of-an-ordered-list-of-the-work-to-be-done-in-order-to-create-maintain-and-sustain-a-product-managed-by-the-product-owner/), it is likely that further [Refinement](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/refinement/) will be needed to prepare these items for future Sprints. This ongoing [Refinement](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/refinement/) helps maintain the quality and clarity of the backlog items, ensuring they are ready for development.
