# Is being a Scrum Master always a full-time job?

The [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) role may or may not be a full-time job, depending on the environment and the team's maturity. In environments where Scrum is new or when a new team is developing a new product, the demands on the [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) may be high, requiring a full-time commitment. The [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) must focus on establishing Scrum practices and supporting the team's development in such scenarios.

In more mature environments where Scrum is well-established, the demands on the [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) may be less intense. In these cases, the [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) might be able to work with more than one [Scrum Team](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-team/) or take on additional responsibilities. However, even in these situations, it is crucial to ensure that the [Scrum Master](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-master/) can dedicate sufficient time and effort to fulfil their accountability effectively.
