# What is the role of a Developer in a Scrum Team?

A [Developer](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/developer/) is one of the three key accountabilities within a [Scrum Team](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-team/), focusing on the day-to-day tasks involved in creating the product. The [Developer](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/developer/) team collaborates closely to ensure they deliver [Value](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/value/) as early as possible and are collectively committed to creating all aspects of a usable [Increment](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/increment/) each Sprint. This means they work together to produce a potentially shippable product [Increment](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/increment/) by the end of each Sprint.

Additionally, Developers have the ultimate accountability in the [Scrum Team](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scrum-team/) regarding how the product is developed. They are responsible for the planning, execution, and quality of the product, ensuring it meets the [Definition of Done](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/definition-of-done/). This responsibility makes them integral to the success of each Sprint and the overall Scrum process.
