# What is the Sprint Backlog in Scrum?

The [Sprint Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-backlog/) is one of the three essential Scrum artifacts. It comprises the set of [Product Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/a-scrum-artifact-that-consists-of-an-ordered-list-of-the-work-to-be-done-in-order-to-create-maintain-and-sustain-a-product-managed-by-the-product-owner/) items selected for the Sprint, accompanied by a plan for delivering the [Increment](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/increment/) and achieving the [Sprint Goal](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-goal/). The [Sprint Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-backlog/) is initially created during [Sprint Planning](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-planning/) and is continuously updated throughout the Sprint.

The [Sprint Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-backlog/) represents a [Forecast](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/forecast/) by the Developers regarding the valuable work anticipated in the next [Increment](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/increment/). It provides visibility into all the work the Developers consider necessary to meet the [Sprint Goal](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-goal/). This artifact is detailed enough to allow the Developers to inspect progress daily at the [Daily Scrum](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/daily-scrum/).
