# What rules must be followed during a Sprint?

During a Sprint, no changes should be made that would endanger the [Sprint Goal](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/sprint-goal/). Quality must not decrease, and the [Product Backlog](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/a-scrum-artifact-that-consists-of-an-ordered-list-of-the-work-to-be-done-in-order-to-create-maintain-and-sustain-a-product-managed-by-the-product-owner/) should be refined as needed. The [Scope](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/scope/) may be clarified and renegotiated with the [Product Owner](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/product-owner/) as more is learned throughout the Sprint.

These rules ensure that the team remains focused on delivering a valuable and high-quality [Increment](https://www.thescrummaster.co.uk/glossary/increment/). Maintaining these standards is crucial for achieving the goals set out at the beginning of the Sprint.
