A Product Owner can adopt the following preferred stances to help them succeed:
- Visionary: The Product Owner is responsible for setting the vision for the product and ensuring that it aligns with the organisation’s overall goals.
- Strategist: The Product Owner must be able to develop a product strategy that outlines the product’s essential features, benefits, and target audience.
- Analyst: The Product Owner should have strong analytical skills to gather and evaluate customer feedback, market trends, and other relevant data to inform product decisions.
- Communicator: The Product Owner must be an effective communicator who can convey the vision, strategy, and priorities of the product to stakeholders, including the development team, customers, and senior management.
- Decision-maker: The Product Owner must be able to make decisions quickly and decisively, often with incomplete information, to keep the product development on track.
- Collaborator: The Product Owner must work closely with the development team and other stakeholders to ensure the product is developed according to specifications and meets the target audience’s needs.
- Leader: The Product Owner must embrace the principles of Agile software development, including iterative development, continuous feedback, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements and circumstances.
