Summary
The new Scrum Guide has reduced in size from 19 to 13 pages, so on the surface, this is the biggest change to Scrum in many years. The size reduction would indicate that a lot has changed, but in reality, as I hope you have seen, the changes, for the most part, are relatively small in scope and impact.
The spirit of Scrum remains the same. The core elements remain largely unchanged. The impact on people using Scrum currently should be minimal. I hope it will make adoption by those new to Scrum easier. I hope it continues the trend of more people using Scrum to help them deliver value when doing complex work.
The intention was to simplify, make less prescriptive and to allow for Scrum to be more inclusive of those outside of software. I think this goal has been successfully met. Ken Schwaber has described this as the best Scrum Guide so far. I think he is right. What do you think?
