Scrum.org have announced some good news for those planning on attending an upcoming Scrum.org Professional Scrum course. They have changed the retake policy around the level I assessments
Here is the announcement:
“If you attend a Scrum.org training class you will learn the importance of inspection, adaptation, and fast feedback cycles. To reinforce those concepts, if you attend the Scrum.org class and attempt the certification assessment within 14 days, but do not achieve a score of at least 85%, you will be given a 2nd attempt at no cost.” – Scrum.org
This policy update applies to the level I assessments for all courses: PSM, PSF, PSD, PSPO, and SPS. It only applies to courses taking place after 12th September 2017.
Scrum.org want to encourage more people to take the assessments soon after the courses. In this way, attendees can better gauge their understanding of Scrum and will be encouraged to continue their post course learning and discovery.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

May I know how to request for second attempt? I have paid for usd150 and failed for first attempt in PSM1.
Hi,
As described in the post, the 2nd attempt is only offered if you have attended a Scrum.org course.

I have purchased PSM 1 certification just 10 days before, will I get second attempt if I fail in my first attempt?
Hi Meena,
Not if you purchased it yourself. You only get the 2nd attempt if you attend a Scrum.org class and receive the password following completion.

Hi, I attended PSM 1 course via Quanta and they provided password to take the exam on Scrum.org. Unfortunately I have not passed. Would there be any chance to resit this exam for 2nd attempt free of cost?
Thanks
Hi,
You will need to contact Scrum.org as they control the assessments and certification. You typically need to pay to resit. Good luck!
