Course Topics
Understand key aspects of professional project management and develop a structured understanding of advanced project practices. By the end of the course, you’ll have a well-rounded skillset that enables you to manage resources, oversee project risks, and ensure successful project delivery.
Project, programme and portfolio management – Learn how to distinguish between projects, programmes and portfolios, understanding the role of each in achieving organisational goals. You’ll explore the functions of a Project Management Office (PMO) and discover how strategic alignment between projects and wider business objectives drives success.
Scope, time and cost management – Mastering the project management triangle is a core focus of this course. Develop expertise in defining project scope, setting achievable timelines, and managing budgets effectively. Through practical exercises and case studies, you’ll learn to estimate resources, cost controls, and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all project deliverables meet quality standards within constraints.
Team management – Strong leadership and team management are critical to project success. This course provides you with the tools to build, motivate, and lead high-performing teams. You’ll gain skills in conflict resolution, fostering collaboration, and enhancing communication, all of which are crucial for creating a productive and harmonious project environment.
Prerequisites
To be eligible for the PMP certification, you must have a:
- A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent)
- Minimum five years professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading or directing the project*
- 35 hours of project management education or CAPM certification
OR
- Four-year degree
- Minimum three years professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing the project*
- 35 hours of project management education or CAPM certification
Certification
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is included. This is gained by passing a 230 minute, multiple choice, 180 question test.
