Great post, are You planning to add more questions?
Author
Hi Jarosław,
More questions are coming soon! I was keen to be agile and launch something small and soon rather than waiting :-).

Simon
Sure, that’s the right approach 🙂 I am going to take the PSM II assesment soon so I will definitely monitor this post.

Good luck with it. Let me know how you get on.
Nicely done Simon.
Am studying for this as we speak.

Thank you Derek. Good luck with it. Let me know how you get on
Simon is Brazilian and would like to know how to buy your full ratings for PSM II? I tried to find it on your site, but I did not find it. I have never found the material to study too and need help. I will do this test soon. Would you help me?

Hi Adelmo,
The only way to get the official course materials is to attend a Scrum.org course.
All my practice assessment materials are available on this site and most are free.

Hi Simon
Thanks for this short test to prepare for the PSM II. But actually I quarrel with one question respectively the answer. It is the question about the refinement and how much time it should take. You have my email. Lets continue with that channel before we discuss the answers for all the people who want to use the questions to prepare. 😉
Thanks and best regards

Hi Benjamin,
Bests to discuss in public as the conversation will likely help people to better understand. What is the issue?
Simon
As per Scrum.org, It states that refinement usually consumes no more than 10% of the capacity of development team. So this could be true.
On contrary to that, there is another point as “Up to 10% of the capacity of the Development Team in a typical Sprint, but as much as 90% in early Sprints” – This could be true as well.
But As far as I see, it states none of the answer is correct in this assessment.
Author
Hi,
As with the Scrum.org assessments, you are looking for the most correct answer. One of these is more correct than the others. I hope that helps.
Simon
Hello,
Thank you for this short practice test 😉 Are you planning to put in it more questions?
Author
Hi Zakaria,
I am planning an update with more questions, but I don’t have a date when this will be available yet.
Simon
Good introduction to what to expect in the exam. Thanks
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the nice practice test. It would be really great if you share a few more questions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ganesh,
That is all I have for now. More are planned and coming later.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the practice assessment, it’s very helpful. There is one question I have doubt, see below. Why a scrum master ‘challenge the distributed nature of the team’? Isn’t it very common to have a distributed team? I first exclude this option when I did the test.
———————————————————-
A Development Team has members working from globally distributed locations. Conducting the Scrum events via a conference call is proving difficult and an impediment to the Development Team self-organising. As Scrum Master, you have raised this in the Sprint Retrospective
Which two are the most appropriate things to do?
Choose 2 answers
A. Have the developers discuss, choose and introduce suitable communication tools
B. Wait for the Development Team to choose and implement a solution
C. Introduce the tools in use elsewhere in the organisation that have helped other teams
D. Raise the impediment to management and challenge the distributed nature of the team
———————————————————–
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks and best regards.

Hi Xiaojing,
A distributed team isn’t by default a problem. However, in this scenario, an aspect of it has become an impediment. Should the Development Team live with such impediments?
I hope that helps clarify.

Simon
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your quick response. I passed my PSM II on 4th Dec and also passed SPS on 5th Dec, it’s not easy, thanks to your post about ‘How to pass SPS’, it really helped me a lot.
For this specific question, for the D option, I admit it’s an impediment, but raise impediment to the management team, what’s the purpose by doing that, expect mgtm cancel romote team? or try to tell them a distributed team couldn’t be self-organising? That’s why I couldn’t persuade myself to agree on D option. In reality, I probably will try to guide team to use a more efficient way to communicate better between two or more locations so that can eliminate the impact of this impediment.
Thanks again,
Xiaojing aka Sarah

Hi Simon,
Thanks for sharing this sample assessment.
I have a question regarding the time spent carrying out a product backlog refinement.
As per the scrum guide “Refinement USUALLY consumes no more than 10% of the capacity of the Development Team” while in the assessment the correct answer seems to be “As much as the PO and the dev team agree is necessary to create enough ready PBI”. “No more than 10% of the dev team” is also a possible answer but results in an incorrect answer.
May I ask you more insight?
Is it so because the Product Backlog Refinement isn’t a formal Scrum Event, and so it is best to view it as an ongoing activity rather than as a discrete meeting or series of meetings?
Kr,
Giorgio

Hi Giorgio,
Your analysis is correct. Refinement is not a time-boxed event. “No more than 10%” is a rule, an absolute. Scrum does not restrict Refinement like this. The guide merely suggests what is usual.

Simon
