I need exam simulator to practice for scrum master
Hi there,
Thanks for your brilliant prep test.
In the test, one of the questions reads as follows:
“A Scrum Team uses 2 weeks Sprints and time box their Sprint Planning to 6 hours. Does this break the rules of Scrum?”
The scrum guide says 8 hours for 1 month. So for a 2-week sprint, proportional to the guide, it should be 4 hours for 2 weeks.
I know this is on a technical point, but would love to understand why you say the answer here is “False”?
Thanks and kind regards.
Chris
Hi Chris,
The only rule is that the timebox for Sprint Planning is 8 hours. You may choose to proportionally shorten it, but this is a possible practice rather than a rule required by Scrum.
The language in the Scrum Guide supports this – “Sprint Planning is timeboxed to a maximum of eight hours for a one-month Sprint. For shorter Sprints, the event is usually shorter.” . Note the “usually” which makes it a possibility rather than a rule.

Thanks!
there is a question where i disagree
The Scrum Master and Product Owner accountabilities can both be held by 1 person
First, it can be difficult for one person to have the time and focus to effectively perform both roles. Second, it can create a conflict of interest, as the Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating the Scrum process and the Product Owner is responsible for representing the needs of the customer.
Can they = “yes”. This is not forbidden by the rules of Scrum and this is the answer the Scrum.org assessments would be looking for.
Should they (usually) = “no”. It rarely works well for the reasons you outlined.
I have the same question. Why this answer? Sprint guide allows scrum masters or product owners to be developers, but it clearly states, there is one scrum master and one product owner as a people, not roles:
“The fundamental unit of Scrum is a small team of people, a Scrum Team. The Scrum Team consists of one Scrum Master, one Product Owner, and Developers.”
“If the Product Owner or Scrum Master are actively working on items in the Sprint Backlog, they participate as Developers.”
