This one-day training course offers a hands-on learning experience to participants, enabling them to enhance value creation by applying discovery and validation skills in product development. What is learned throughout the course is essential for developing new products and enhancing existing ones.

Experimenting with new ideas and collecting evidence on those experiments is more important than ever in today’s ever-changing business environments. Learning from potential or current users is essential to delivering the right product capabilities to market which is why this course teaches the essential techniques needed to drive targeted learning while collecting evidence to validate or invalidate potential capabilities.

Throughout the class, students learn several discovery and validation practices that can be used immediately in their jobs.

Course Overview

In this one-day* course, students work hands-on as they follow a case study as a way of learning to apply techniques throughout the class. This course is designed for Product Owners, product managers, business analysts and product teams to enable them to better incorporate discovery and validation into their product development and delivery processes.

Leveraging product discovery and validation techniques, the course takes a user-centric approach, illustrating how this comes together with development and delivery. Students learn how discovery, delivery, and validation fit together to lead to an end-to-end evidence-based approach to product development.

Who Should Attend this class?

This course is appropriate for students who are currently working as a Product Owner, product manager, product leaders, business analysts and others on the product team who are looking for practical ways to increase user value created, make data-informed decisions, and better investments. Professional Scrum Certification

All participants completing the Professional Product Discovery & Validation course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Product Discovery & Validation Certification. PPDV class participants who attempt the PPDV assessment within 14 days of the class and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

Venue Location

This is a Live Virtual Remote/Online Course. The course is specially designed to run online and includes frequent breaks and an hour for lunch.

The format and structure of the course remain the same and we cover all the same material and topics as if you were attending in person.

Attendees will interact throughout, joining in discussions and taking part in group exercises. Lessons are broken down into short sections followed by a break to allow regular time away from the screen.

About The Trainer

Joanna Plaskonka is a Scrum.org Professional Scrum Trainer (PST), Agile Coach and consultant. She started her Scrum and Agile journey in 2010.

She holds a PhD degree in Robotics. She is very interested in all aspects of work, especially those related to people, products, and processes. She loves to look for better, more effective ways of working that help organisations deliver business value quicker.

I attended the PSM workshop with Simon that I found interesting, informative and entertaining at the same time. It was a great combination of learning and group exercises. Excellent class which uses a good combination of classroom teaching, hands-on exercises and group discussions. Good pace and great anecdotes and past experiences shared by the instructor to help position the topic and bring it to life.

As someone who is relatively new to Scrum and from an HR background I found the training to cater for all levels without unnecessary jargon. The two days were nicely paced and at no point did it feel that a particular topic or section was rushed. I particularly liked how Simon used a variety of examples that were not specific to software development to facilitate learning.

Simon was my trainer on the Professional Scrum Product Owner course - me, having done ample preparation (reading the Scrum Guide, searching the internet on the subject matter), I was slightly worried what the course may add to that.
