On 26th July 2016, Scrum.org relaunched the Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) assessment and certification. It was previously known as the Professional Scrum Practitioner (PSP) assessment and certification. It has now been renamed and officially launched by Scrum.org. What was previously called PSM II is now known as PSM III. You can find out more about the changes here.
PSM II is an advanced level assessment aimed at demonstrating that you know Scrum theory and how to apply it in the real world.
PSM II was created based on the feedback received around the original Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II), now called PSM III assessment which was considered by many to be VERY difficult, and an expert rather than advanced level assessment.
The new PSM II assessment is therefore positioned between PSM I and PSM III in terms of difficulty and is a more achievable certification for those that have attended a Professional Scrum Master course and/or have sufficient real world experience.
The PSM II assessment is structured in a similar way to PSM I. It is comprised of 30 multiple choice questions. You have 90 minutes to complete the assessment and must score 85%+ to achieve the certification. As with all Scrum.org assessments, it is challenging and designed to test your real understanding of Scrum.
In order to improve as Software Development Professionals we should all seek to undertake continual learning. The PSM II assessment is an excellent way to validate your continued learning about Scrum. Let me know what you think in the comments section below or drop me an email if you prefer a 1 to 1 conversation.
If you want some tips to help you prepare for it, read my post on how to pass the Professional Scrum Master II assessment.
** Please note that there is no discount code available for the PSM II assessment. There was a short term introductory offer in 2016 but this no longer applies

Hi Simon,
For appearing in PSP is there any prerequisite such as holding PSM I or anyone can appear irrespective of having PSM or not. I am asking this question as I don’t find much about PSP in Scrum.org site & also for PSM II there is prerequisite of holding PSM I certification. If there is no prerequisite then please share the discount code.
Also similarly is there any prerequisite for SPS as well?
Thanks,
Pradip
Hi Pradip,
The PSP assessment is still being trialled hence the current discount offering. Going forward it is recommended that you would pass PSM I before going on to take PSP. I would advise the same for SPS also. Both PSM and SPS are intermediate/advanced assessments so passing the easier PSM I first will prepare you well for the next step.
While there are no compulsory requisites for PSP and SPS currently, this may change once Scrum.org launch these officially.
I have shared the discount code with you in case you wish to go ahead.
Simon
Hi,
Could I get the code also?
Thanks!

COuld you please send me the discount code for PSM-1?
Could you send over the link and I’ll make a decision, is it ok to share the link with a few colleagues if they have already achieved PSM 1?

Hi Simon, I am currently PSM 1 and 2 (which I believe is being changed to PSE) and SPS (thanks for code the other week), do you believe the PSP is a good addition or not needed if already PSM 2.
Hopefully not sounding too cheeky but is there any offers around PSD and PSPO 1 and do you do any courses for PSPO 2?
Thanks
Aaron
Hi Aaron,
If you have PSM II already, you don’t really need PSP as you have already achieved the higher level certification. But it may still be handy if you want to complete the set and test yourself from a different perspective.
There aren’t currently any offers for PSD or PSPO. If/when that changes I will send out another newsletter, so stay posted.
Finally, I offer the Professional Scrum Product Owner course which will set you up nicely to pass the PSPO II certification. I don’t have a course scheduled currently but there will be some in early 2016. You can see my full list of upcoming courses here and it is updated regularly.

Can I get a discount code for PCM2 exam?
Hi Anna,
The discount offer expired back in early 2016. The only way to get a discount now is to come along to a Professional Scrum Master course.
