The creation of the Scrum Guide was driven by the increasing adoption and subsequent confusion surrounding Scrum. As more people began using Scrum, it became apparent that a consistent and clear definition was necessary to guide practitioners. Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, recognising this need, collaborated to produce the Scrum Guide.
The first version of the Scrum Guide was released in 2010, documenting Scrum as it had been developed, evolved, and sustained over more than two decades. The guide provided a comprehensive framework for understanding and implementing Scrum, helping to standardise its practice worldwide.
