What is a Sprint in Scrum, and how is it structured?

A Sprint in Scrum is a short cycle of work, typically lasting less than one month, in which a specific amount of work is completed by the Scrum Team. These cycles are designed to allow for regular assessment and adaptation of the work being done. Each Sprint begins with a Sprint Planning event where the team sets a Sprint Goal and decides on the tasks to be accomplished during the Sprint. The work is then tracked in the Sprint Backlog, a dynamic document that evolves as tasks are completed and new insights are gained.

The structure of a Sprint includes daily meetings called Daily Scrums where the Developers discuss progress and adjust their plans for the next 24 hours. At the end of the Sprint, a Sprint Review is conducted where the Increment (the potentially shippable product) is inspected by both the Scrum Team and stakeholders. This is followed by a Sprint Retrospective, where the team reflects on the past Sprint and identifies ways to improve in the next Sprint.
