Key Value Measures in Evidence-Based Management

Key Value Measures (KVMs) in Evidence-Based Management (EBM) are examples of Metrics that can assess progress towards Key Value Areas (KVAs). EBM does not mandate specific measures, allowing users the flexibility to select the most appropriate Metrics for their context. This adaptability ensures that organisations can tailor their measurement strategies to best fit their unique goals and circumstances.

While measurement is crucial for understanding progress and Value creation, it is important to avoid over-measuring. Excessive measurement consumes valuable resources, such as the time of employees who collect, process, and report data, and financial investments in tools and technologies. These resources could potentially be allocated to more productive activities, emphasising the need for a balanced approach to measurement.
