Why is focus important in Scrum, and how can it be maintained?

Focus is critical in Scrum because it allows team members to concentrate deeply on their tasks without distractions. In the complex domain, deep concentration is necessary to tackle challenging work effectively. Maintaining focus requires creating and supporting environments that minimise distractions and allow individuals the space and time needed to work.

It takes courage to uphold focus, especially when others have shifting and conflicting priorities. Team members must commit to supporting each other’s focus and respecting those who are deeply engaged in their work. Openness about the importance of focus and the costs incurred when it is lost is also vital in maintaining a productive work environment.
