What is the Product Backlog in Scrum?

The Product Backlog is one of the three key Scrum artifacts. It is an ordered list of the known and valuable work needed to create the product. Essentially, it serves as the single source of work for the Scrum Team building the product. Changes in business requirements, market conditions, or technology can cause the Product Backlog to be updated at any time to reflect new insights or needs.

Product Backlog items, often referred to as PBIs, have attributes such as description, order, and size. These attributes help in organising and prioritising the work needed to build the product. Other attributes may be added depending on the specific domain of work the product is in. The Product Owner is responsible for managing the Product Backlog but can delegate tasks while remaining accountable.
