The Increment is one of the three primary artifacts in Scrum. It is a body of inspectable, Done work that supports the principles of Empiricism. By the end of a Sprint, the new Increment must be Done, which means it must be in a usable condition and meet the Scrum Team’s Definition of Done.
The Increment is not just a single piece of work but the sum of all the Product Backlog items that have been completed during the Sprint, combined with the increments from all previous Sprints. It provides a clear picture of the progress made and is a crucial part of the Scrum process.
